About Us

Our school is a primary school for extended learning of languages. Pupils can decide for the first foreign language when they start the first form and later – when they start the fifth form – they choose the second foreign language and thus they learn both languages till they leave our primary school at the age of fifteen.

In 2008 our school entered the CLIL project and applied it in the first form.

Our pupils can choose from different voluntary subjects, like Russian language, as well as conversation classes in English, German, French languages as after school activities.

At the beginning:

„The aim of this project is to improve an educational pathway for students living in disadvantaged areas of Europe and in special conditions due to economical crises. This project focuses on self-development of students, encouraging them to realize their own way of learning and introducing different cultures to the students. It is important to create common cultural historical experiences through literature, plays, games and songs. But the main point in this project is to broaden their point of view and encourage them in that they can reach its answer. The students will select any local songs, games or stories which are chosen in their own languages and then translated in English. They will exchange their experiences to partners through different ways like drama or exhibition. Some dramas will be held in different countries during the events established in the plan of the project. A project club will be set up where the children will develop their projects, contact the other partners involved in this project by e-mail and web site. In order to broaden their point of view, the students will create their e-newsletter which will be done after the meetings of the project. At the end of the project, they will create a booklet including stories, plays, games and songs. In addition, a survey will be implemented in order to see the process of self-esteem among the students, pre and post of the project. The European cooperation between partner schools will offer a useful motivation for students, improving learning modern language, exchanging activities, results, sharing experiences, helping students to promote their school and culture by means of songs and stories - a modality of proving the European dimension of the whole work developed in this project.“

IDEAS

The most of students were involved in project Comenius for the first time. At the beginning we  expected to broad our English skills, learn more about the partner cultures, meet new people, make friends and take a challenge being a part of project and use our own ideas during the project work.

COMMUNICATION AND FRIENDS

The most useful communication was via the facebook, e-mails, common meetings and personal contacts. Almost everybody has made from three to ten regular partnerships.

ACTIVITIES

The most enjoying was working as a member of the team. Students are proud about their creating stories, writing sport game rules, writing about tradiditions of their cultures, drawing logos, pictures of the heroes, talking to each other in English.

The most interesting activities were managing ourselves or presenting the results of our work to the partners  and to the local community.

The most  difficult activities were writing lyrics for our anthem, writing the reports from the journeys because of many activities which have been seen and done,  long travelling, dancing Quadrille dance, bringing groups together.

Visiting schools became the happiest time spending with partners. Various lessons gave opportunity to compare our school equipment, observing the way of teaching managment. Many of students would like to spend more time in partner schools.

Sightseeing has been an important part of meetings. The cities and their history like Berlin, Krakow UNESCO heritage, Banska Bystrica, walking in the beautiful coutryside in Donovaly, in Roztocza, UNESCO church in Hronsek., Pergamon museum, the Museum of Slovak National Uprising and others.  We also visited some entertainment facilities for young people – popular aquaparks.

Voluntary work was for some students organized for the first time. We helped sick older people, rose money or collected toys for orphanage, rose money for animal charity and managed the Top manager conference, we saw the non verbal theatre performance  Protected territory.
